Empty Theaters, Empty Dreams.[OPEN] « Thread Started on Jun 2, 2008, 5:30pm »
The bang of the door shutting echoed through the loud empty theater.Although it was dark in the seating area, Nora could perfectly see the rather large stage.A small smile appeared on her red painted lips as she slowly walked over to the stage. Her arm extended out and dropped her bag and sweater on the first patted red chair in the first row.Nora stood in front of the large stage, her hands carelessly wandered to her hips as she placed them there. It had been so long since she has performed in a stage this big, in fact it has be long period.Nora's brown eyes slowly wandered to her right as she spotted a stair case leading up to the stage. She bit her lip and walked back to her belongings and opened her large bag."Pens...paper...gum..hairbrush..more gum ah yes my ballet slippers..and shorts",She mumbled to herself as she pulled out the two items. Her eyes scanned the theater making sure it was empty and she was the only one in there. When she had convinced herself it was she quickly unbutton her tight pants and peeled them off, and as quickly as she took them off she she quickly pulled on her shorts.Turning herself around she sat down on the patted red chair of the theater and pulled up her right leg, she slipped off her green chucks and pulled on her right ballet shoes, and did the very same thing to her left. Finally she stood up and cracked her fingers.
Why was she feeling so nervous?, it wasn't as if anybody was watching. She nervously bite down on her lips as she made her slim figure go up the stairs.Nora immediately felt the heat of the spot light above on her bare pale arms and legs.It didn't bother her much but it did slightly bother her eyes. She scanned the empty theater again and slowly started picturing every last seat in the theater occupied with a person. The thought of everyone clapping and cheering made Nora's stomach fill with butterflies.Come to think of it this was her first time stepping on this stage, or even this theater she had heard allot about it and how people sneak in late at night. But it was a late afternoon classes were done for the day and no body was doing nothing but just sleeping or dozing off.She had been planning for this for a while now, and didn't know if she was able to come in or not but what did she care?.Nora slowly sat herself down and started stretching out, she can often hear her bones crack and she smiled. When she was finally satisfied in stretching she stood up and backed away.Nora slowly started making music in her head, which she noted to next time bring some sort of music.Slowly her feet started tapping and she was off.Nora started doing things normal people couldn't do,her legs stretched out before her and her jumps were perfect.Thats when she realized how much she missed doing ballet, and made a note to start going back to it.After at least fifteen minutes later Nora stopped suddenly and looked around breathing in the harsh cold air.She felt cold drops of sweat start forming around her forehead "How long have you been there?",She called out bringing the back of her hand up to her forehead.

Late afternoon, mid morning, evening. Whatever it was it really didn't matter. River did whatever he wanted no matter the time. So far that did not involve going to class. He was knew to this Claremont place and found wandering around and getting to know the are much more productive than going to class. What? Like learning shit was so great anyway. How much of the stuff he learned in school would apply to his life anyhow? Absolutely zero unless they taught a class on getting drunk or high. Now that would be useful.
So, what was River doing in the theatre exactly? Hell, even he didn't know. He was looking for the toilet when he stumbled into the place. It was surprisingly difficult to navigate his way around this school he just arrived at while intoxicated. It didn't really matter though, he always ended up finding his way eventually. When he first entered the theatre he thought he'd plop himself in one of the back seats in the theatre for a minute. But before he knew it he had passed out. Falling asleep in strange places wasn't anything new to River, but he hadn't expected it to happen.
It was the sound of the door shutting that had River waking up startled. Before looking for the source of the noise first thing was first. River pulled out a flask from the inside of worn leather jacket and took a swig of the hard liquor swishing around inside. Seated in the back row of the theatre concealed River's presence from the girl who entered the theatre and created such a loud bang. He failed to even see the girl until she got on stage and started moving around.
River never understood the appeal of dancing. Not that he had really been exposed to anything of quality. he only times he had seen high schoolers dance was at the various dances at his old schools. This usually consisted of variations of the same sort of 'ass shaking', something that never appealed to River. He often wondered if that's how those people would dance at their weddings in front of their relatives, after all that is what appeared to be the only way they knew how.
But it was obvious this girl was doing something a little more sophisticated that boot shaking. It was especially impressive to him in his current drunk state. But really he didn't have very many other states he could be in. He was enjoying her routine when she suddenly stopped, a look of disappointed crossed his face. Her question echoed throughout the empt theatre and River looked around to see who she could be addressing. Oh, she meant him.
"Erm... I don't really know actually." He said realizing for the first time that he must have passed out when he had decided to sit for just a moment. He had no idea how much time could have passed between than and now.

A small sigh escaped her lips as she stared at the darkness. How could she not have seen that guy?, how long was he really there for?.She automatically picked up the slurred words of the guys and a small smile appeared on her face.He was drunk, this was going to be interesting."Why don't you come out of the darkness and let me see your face",,Nora called out to wherever he was."I like to know who I'm talking to you know",She added as she walked toward the edge of the stage. Her legs were slightly aching since it had been a while, slowly Nora slid down into a split on the floor and the brought her legs toward her and sat Indian style on the floor of the stage. Then suddenly she realized that she had changed earlier. Her lip slightly twitched as she thought about it, what if he saw her?, it really doesn't matter though i was just in underwear for a split second. She shrugged it off and patiently waited for the guy to stand up and walk toward the stage.
Her hands reached up to her long hot pink hair and she slowly picked up her hair and tied it into a pony tail. She brushed back her bangs and slowly fanned herself still feeling hot and sweaty from the dancing. She then realized as she saw his approaching body come into view what was she going to say to him?, he was obviously intoxicated but that didn't bother her at all.She herself drank allot but only when it came to parties but not like this guy.She chuckled under her breathe as she suddenly stood up and jumped off the stage and walked over to her bag, she opened up the small pocket inside and pulled out her box of Marlboro Reds. She grabbed her green lighter and walked herself back to the stage, hoping on she again sat in Indian style.Opening the red and white box and pulled out one cancer stick and stuck it into her mouth and lit it up.She sucked in a puff and inhaled then exhaled letting smoke flow out."Want one hun?",She asked offering her cancer sticks to the guy.Nora remember her first time smoking, it rather funny actually. She remember it clearly she was in seventh grade and her friend Samantha quietly huddled her group of friends together and pulled out a cigarette box. That day she did it she started coughing up hysterically, but as she occasionally did it it didn't face her. That memory also lead to others such as her first time getting high and doing the drugs she does now.But that was a whole other dilemma she has and at the moment she certainly didn't want to get into it.
Nora stared at the guy with her intense brown eyes and raised her plucked eyebrows at him and formed her full lips into a smile her pale hand still extended out to him offering him a cigarette. With her other hand she brought her cigarette to her lips and took a small drag and blew out the smoke.

Egh. The way she told him to come out of the darkness made him feel creepy. As if he had been hiding in the shadows to spy on young women or something. He was a little more innocent than that. He hadn't intentionally been concealed, he hadn't intentionally passed out in the theatre, and he sure hadn't intentionally watched her in a creepy way. He had never considered himself a peeping tom, intentional or not. It didn't really matter anyway, he probably wasn't going to remember this later, after a decent sleep.
River heaved himself up out of the theatre seat, his body felt heavy from just having woken up, plus he was wasted. That bit was obvious as he stumbled out of the darkness into the lit area of the theatre. Man, what was with this place. Every person he met at this school seemed to have crazy coloured hair. Not that it bothered him. His parents probably would tell him 'to stay away from crazy haired girls, they're all tramps'. But River had made the mistake of being overly judgmental in the past, and he had learned his lesson. After all, he had normal hair and was drunk all day, every day.
He hadn't caught her changing he earlier, he was too disoriented than from waking up in a strange place to notice the girl in her underpants near the stage. River wasn't immature enough to get all hot and bothered over a stranger in their underpants anyway... even if the stranger was young, attractive, and a dancer. Boy, would he be disappointed he had missed her show before the dancing started.
He watched hop up onto the stage with ease, there was no way he'd be able to do that without falling on his face. River opted against making a complete fool out of himself and walked up to the edge of the stage. Looking at the offered cigarette, a look of mock skepticism took over his features. "Hmmm... That cigarette could be laced with anything... I don't think I should take it." He added sarcastically before leaning on the edge of the stage and grabbing the stick from her hand. Free cigarette, she was already his best friend. Not bothering her for a light River pulled his own zippo lighter from his pocket and with a flick he lit his cigarette.
Smoking just kind of came with the drinking for River. He wouldn't be able to remember his first time, honestly he was too drunk. But before he knew it he was addicted and would smoke across the street of the school by himself. He didn't really have any friends to share the experience with. Ha, she was the first person that wasn't a deranged homeless man that he had shared a smoke with.
River cleared his throat before taking a drag off his cigarette. "What do you call that kind of dancing." He blew smoke to his side, gesturing to the stage where she had previously been 'performing'.

Taking another drag from her cigarette she chuckled and shook her head.Who in there right mind will take the time to actually lace a cigarette with something and just hopefully wait a drunk guy will show up and offer them one and just wait to see what happens, certainly not Nora. She wouldn't waste her time doing that anyways."Its a plain ol' cigarette, just take it",she smiled and shook her head.Nora has always been the kind of person to study people, and it wasn't because she was creepy it was just because thats how she learned from a person. And as her brown eyes stared at the guy before her, she had concluded that this wasn't just a one night time to drink, this must happen often since he didn't seem so upset over the fact he was in a place he probably had no clue he's in.Taking another drag Nora brought her arm up and scratched her elbow, she had forgot that she had a tattoo there. Her mind suddenly remember that she had more and she shrugged it off and like she use to do in class she would trace the sunflower around her elbow slowly and just think or listen to who ever was talking.
"What do you call that kind of dancing",he said.A small giggle escaped from her full lips as he asked her that question."That dancing is called ballet!", Nora stated as she dropped down her arm and took one last drag from her already gone cigarette and put it out slowly."Its pretty easy, you just gotta put dedication into it",She spoke softly as she mindlessly played with the burnt out cigarette.Nora suddenly felt a slight crave as she started smelling the alcohol from the boys mouth. And she realized since she stepped into Claremont this year she hadn't made a friend nor spoke to anyone.Nora felt as if she had to make at least this guy a friend, after all no one wants to be alone. She wasn't fond of silence either so she as quick as she could tryed to spark up a conversation."Do you have any...Tattoos?",She asked him as she slid to the edge of the stage and let her long legs hang over the edge.A slight smile formed on her face when she remembered the first time she got her tattoo and her dad flipped, but Nora had her ways and instantly persuaded her dad about the idea of another one.She turned her attention back to the boy and slowly started swinging her legs back and forth waiting for a reply.Hopefully he will get slightly sober, to at least remember her and give straight answers. But then again who cares?, she just remember her crave for some type of alcohol "You wont happen to have anymore..you know alcohol?",she asked him as she crossed her legs and leaned back and supported herself with her hands.

He had always been raised to be weary of strangers by his parents. Especially the kind that offer you cigarettes. But the only human contact he really got was from strangers. People that knew him tended to hate him or be repulsed by his habits. Yeah, he was probably a degenerate of society, but he didn't care. He mingled with all the other low life's that wandered the streets, never really starting any real solid relationships, but getting just enough socializing to not kill himself out of loneliness. But it was safe to assume low life's didn't do ballet, so Nora seemed miles above his usual company.
"You can't be too careful. I've had some weird smokes in my day." He said jokingly, the alcohol making him feel more wise than he really was. But as far as weird cigarettes were concerned, he'd had his share of experiences with them. Bums don't warn you that they tend to lace their shit in crack, you just find out unfortunately afterward when you find yourself naked on a park bench with your wallet stolen. Those homeless aren't very harmless.
Easy? For a guy with no rhythm and no dancing experience whatsoever? Even River's drunken little brain could figure it wouldn't be as simple as a little dedication. There was probably a bit of a natural gift required to be decent at least. Not that he'd ever attempt ballet to see if by some miracle he had a natural ability at it. Dancing just wasn't his style, no, sitting on his ass getting wasted was more his deal. "Yeah, i'm sure i'd be awesome at it." He scoffed at the idea, thinking it'd be real amusing to see himself in a tutu. But that was just the alcohol talking.
Taking a drag River raised his brow at her question. Boy, that was random, maybe she was on something. Or not on something. He met several kids who didn't take their meds and they were pretty wacked in the brain, jumping from topic to topic. Hey, she could be on or off whatever she wanted. After all he was drunk.
"Yep. Actually my whole back is covered. Don't ask me when or how I got them, I wouldn't really have an answer for you." He grinned dopily, thinking of his own surprise when he saw them. He could have gone his whole life without noticing if they hadn't made his back feel so sore the morning after. It did bring him great joy to see his mother's horrified face when he came down for breakfast and he asked her if his back had a rash on it or something because it was hurting. She dropped her coffee and it shattered on the floor. That moment alone made the tattoos worth it.
River looked around to see that they were alone. He often became a paranoid drunk. "Alcohol? Heh, how proper." Smirking, River pulled the flask out of his jacket pocket and shook it in front of her to indicated it was only half empty. "I'll warn you little girl, it's not a cosmopolitan."

She shrugged nodding it was pretty true, she had heard some whacked out stories of people receiving shit from other people and ending up getting something else. That brought her back to the memory of that day last year.It was a pretty big party and everyone was doing all kinds of drugs and drinking and of course Nora herself was high and slightly tipsy. And she just started making out with people even girls, though she was completely straight but she was just high. And not more then five minutes later her mouth started becoming numb, and having no idea why she asked her friend. Her friend just simply replied that somebody did cocaine and now some of it just got to her. Now, Nora was never a fan of cocaine in fact that drug was just a downer she didn't do downers, why do a drug to end up being depressed?.Well anyways lets just say she is never getting high and drinking again, stupid stuff like that happen.
"Yeah, I'm sure I'd be awesome at it",She laughed as she heard the hint of sarcastic in his voice. Then again Nora shouldn't be going around saying its easy,it was just simply easy for her because she had been doing it since three.Shrugging she smiled and shook her head and sat up straight again."Really?",she said mighty interested.Nora was a huge fan of tattoos she loved them, and the fact that his whole back was covered by one made her want to see it but she refrain from asking."I have four, but they aren't real big",Nora raise up her arm and bend it slightly showing him the sunflower around her elbow."I have this one",she brought down her arm and turned her back to the guy and pointed to her shoulder blade "This one also".Nora turned herself around facing him and stood up on her feet."And my favorites so far are these two",She lifted her tank top slightly and just a bit pulled down the hem of her shorts showing him the two sparrows on each side of her hips.Pulling down her shirt she sat right back up on the edge of the stage and started speaking."But i want just a few more",She said smiling and bringing up one knee up to her chest and resting her chin on her knee.
Arching up her eyebrows she stared at him "I am not little girl, and i can handle any type of alcohol its no biggie, its not like its my first time drinking",She extended her hand out to him and waited for him to hand her the flask, she didn't want to be rude and snatch it from him.She watched as he placed it in her hand and she smiled at him and took a swig from the flask. She swallowed the liquid and ignored the burning feeling of the hard liquor in her throat."Mmh pretty good and strong..what is it?",she asked shaking the flask around so the liquid inside would swirl.

Making out with random people was always something River tried to avoid. People wasted enough to start making out with strangers are usually the ones you'd never want to make out with in the first place. He felt bad when he saw a group of guys gathered around a couple girls, ogling with desire. Didn't they feel shitty for being turned into nothing more than a spectacle? A sex object? He had to admit that a major flaw of his sex was that men often took advantage of drunk or high girls at parties. Didn't those guys feel guilty after words? He knew he'd feel like shit if he ever did something like that. Not to mention it would probably get him into serious trouble. He didn't know how the girls felt though, maybe they enjoyed the attention. People would call him a fag if he brought up these concerns. But what's gay about being concerned for girls? He had to admit it sounded like a double standard to be concerned for them when he drank all the time without a care for himself. God, shit is complicated, drinking makes it less so.
River gasped at her. "I'm seriously offended. Not going to ask me to take my shirt off and show you? And here I thought this whole line of questioning was dedicated to getting my shirt off. It's so nice of you to not take advantage of lil' ol' drunken me." He teased, in mock offense. Not that he would consider her asking to see it as some sort of way of coming onto him. A lot of people considered tattoos as art and he didn't mind showing it to someone who appreciated them in such a way. But hey, if she wanted to just see him shirtless, who was to blame her.
River watched her show of her skin art with interest. He always wondered what motivated people to go through all that pain. Of course maybe they too were too wasted to really feel anything. The only regret he had about his was that he didn't really choose it... or at least he thought he didn't... maybe he did. Whatever, it still looked pretty cool to him. Not that he saw his back all the time anyway. "Yeah, after a couple more drinks i'm sure you'll see mine too." He laughed, taking a final drag of his cigarette before dropping it on the ground, with no respect for the theatre, and stepping on it with his foot.
"If I have to look down to talk to you, pretty sure that makes you little. But if you insist little girl..." He smirked, handing her the flask, warm from being in his jacket pocket all day. River watched her drink, impressed she didn't squirm at the harsh flavour. "Today it's my good friend Jack. Not the best of all drinks, but certainly an effective one."

As Nora took another gulp from the flask she handed him back the flask not wanting to drink it all up and leave with none, after all it was his.She laughed and slightly snorted at his comment.Feeling slightly embarrassed her rosy cheeks grew hot as she continued to now giggle. No,Nora was drunk nor tipsy yet that would be ridiculous but the two gulps she had managed to swallowed had loosened her up and bit,and she slightly felt comfortable."Fine if you want to take it off so bad just do it, its not anything new, a man chest isn't such a big deal, now take that damn shirt off and let me see what you got",She laughed as she made the comment in a jokingly way.Nora thought tattoos would always look better on guys only because it always just complimented them, on girls it rarely looked good but fortunately on her it looks good.Nora raised her eyebrows and smiled "I don't need to drink or have you drunk to have you take your shirt off,its just a matter of asking politely", she softly chuckled and brought her hands up to her hair and untied her pony tail. She let her long her fall down and ran a hand through it.
Nora hopped off the stage and straightened her posture the best she can.She planted her hands to her hips and held her head high, yup she was sure enough shorter then him maybe by four or three inches."Listen Mr.tough guy i may be shorter then you but I'm probably more....smarter?, then you",Nora laughed at her lame attempt to sound tough and shook her head grinning."Well if your gonna call me little girl i prefer little lady better, it sounds more proper".Nora smiled but then soon frowned, it had dawned on her that she didn't even know this boys name, and he sure as hell didn't know hers. She felt rude and bad at the same time, yet she when on and talked to him and even showed him her tattoos as if she knew him since last year."My bad, i never told you my name kind stranger",she held out her soft hand to him and smiled."My name is Nora Ann Kitching im pleased to meet you on this..",Nora looked at her cell phone and checked the time."On this fine night".It was already 8:34 and by now mostly all students on campus were either out on dinner or in there dorms. But Nora and this guy was here in the theater and honestly she didn't mind at all, she would rather enjoy the company of the guy then the boring and cold lonesome dorm.

How thoughtful of her to not swindle him and drink all his Jack. Most people ask for just a swig and end up leaving River with nothing but a few drops left. Hm, those may also be the bums that drugged him up on cigarettes laced with something more dangerous than just the already cancer inducing stick. But luckily she didn't seem to be in the habit of sucking the flask dry. River had to laugh at her comment, she sure wasn't one to beat around the bush any. "I could have very embarrassing man breastesess... or even worse, a weird alien coming out of my stomach like that guy in Total Recall!" River stopped himself from making further speculations of what was under his own shirt before he freaked himself out. His drunken little brain was highly susceptible to such outlandish suggestions.
He could understand the argument of men looking better than women with tattoos. But he would also have to argue that no matter what gender some people just do not look good with tattoos. For example, his clean-cut yuppie parents would look terrible with tattoos. And thankfully hell would freeze the f*** over before they adorned their bodies with ink. He thought tattoos suited that Nora's tattoos suited her. She had that kind of rock star image going on. It was kind of ironic she was into ballet and not into being the front woman to a poplar rock band. But he just met her, she could be some famous musician without him knowing. Pfft, obviously not that famous if he hadn't heard of her.
River took a long swig off the flask before setting it on the stage. "Well, you have convinced me, i just better not see this on the internet." He grinned, eyes half closed in his buzzed state. Wow, what perfect timing for a faculty member to bust in on them, River ready to strip. River slipped out of his jacket, and set it next to his flask. He winked at her jokingly before pulling off his plain white t-shirt and throwing it at her. He held his arms out and made a 'what now' gesture before turning around for her to view his back tattoos. Heaven and hell, together on one back. Man, what a statement.
"Shoot, it doesn't take much to be smarter than me right now. I just took off my shirt for some... pink-haired ballet dancer." He laughed, what were the odds of him meeting such a unique figure. Kind stranger. That was a new one, one of the better names he'd been called over the past few years. People did tend to underestimate how nice he could be when he was all liquored up and feeling good. Thank god he wasn't a confrontational drunk or he'd get along with no one. "That's a mouthful, mind if I just call you Nora? Or NAK for short?" River smiled to himself... he knew exactly what to call her. "Well NAK-ATTACK, my name is River the newly arrived village drunk." He grinned, mocking his own alcoholic tendencies.

-"Man breasts are nothing to be ashamed of we all got something that eventually other people have as well, and if you do i suggest a few push ups a day will take those man breasts away. And as for the the alien coming out of your stomach...well thats something you don't see everyday but luckily you don't have that either",Nora giggled and watched as he took off his shirt. She caught his shirt and gently placed it beside her laughing and took in the site of his tattoo, boy was it better then she imagined. She scanned it so closely and smiled."Wow, thats amazing even if you got this drunk...atleast it wasn't something stupid",She grinned. Then the thought of her growing older hit her and how would she look with a bunch of tattoos and maybe even having some kids?,honestly she didn't care she always wanted a cool mom that looked like her.Although her mom had talked about being a wild child when she was younger but Nora couldn't picture her mother who always wore 'motherly' close look different.
Rockstar?, oh she wished she was a rockstar she specifically recall the days when she was younger and wished she was famous. But those days were long ago and plus she didn't have a voice whats so ever, she certainly didn't sing as good as other people, therefore she stuck with making music or dancing. And it might be slightly ironic but thats what made Nora so...unique so different, she wasn't what people would expect when they see her.Usually someone will be like, oh she is just a no good trouble maker who doesn't give a damn about herself, look at that hair.Totally wrong, Nora is pretty nice and she only makes trouble when she's a little high or what not and people might be slightly right when they say she doesnt give a damn about her self..just slightly.
"Well come on even if you were sober you still would have done it, i mean look at me",She said joking while starting to laugh again.NAK?, wow thats areal odd one and Nora would have been fine.Nora was going to speak again but she stopped, NAK Attack, thats a new one.She smiled "Ello River, its nice to meet the drunk, he is so certainly nice for being one",Nora grinned and when back to the thought, NAK attack...Not bad she kinda liked it."So tell me about yourself, thats if you don't mind though", she wanted to get to know her new friend more at least to make sure he wasn't some type of creep or something, even though she knew he wasn't but you can never be to sure.Nora reached for her box of cigarettes again and took out another one, she lit it up and took a long drag. And again she held out her hand offering another one to River just in case he wanted another.
