Laughing. Blurred vision. Dark. Flash of light. Crash!
River jolted awake, his head screaming at him, telling him he needed a drink. His fingers brushed across the rough texture of the bladed grass that made up the football field, meandering their way to the glass bottle lying next to him. Clumsily taking up the bottle into his hand River sat up slowly, grimacing at the pain that shot through his back. The football field was no substitute for a real bed, but he didn't mean to pass out there during his late night wanderings around the area. He recently arrived in Claremont and decided the best way to get to know the place was stroll around town. But as of late he was in a drunken state ninety percent of the time, and during his wanderings about had several hostile encounters with the locals. People were so confrontational here. Couldn't a guy just walk around drunk in the middle of night without getting in a fight? Sheesh, Californians...
The sun was rising as it was early morning, it was pretty, but it made his eyes hurt. F you sun!. River squinted at his foe, giving it the finger. Life would be better in a permanent state of darkness, no damn light to shine on all the flaws in the world. Hey, maybe Alaska would be ideal. But that would only work for a month. Where would he go for the other eleven when it was just like everywhere else? Sounds like space would be the only real option.
With this depressing thought of never attaining his true want of a sunless life River gave up his star down of the ball of gas creeping over the horizon, it was a battle he would never win. River held the bottle of amber liquid in front of his face, the light of the sun shining through and reflecting the color of the whiskey onto his face.
Damn, almost out. He sluggishly unscrewed the cap and downed the last bit of liquid that remained. The beverage had been chilled over night and made his eyes widen when it hit the back of his throat. Things were gonna be tough until he procured himself another bottle of hard liquor. He dreaded the continuation of time that would bring back the yearning for a fix as well as the emotions he never wanted to face. When he was drunk he didn't care, didn't think, and didn't remember. Otherwise he would be forced to face himself and what he had done. God, he was such a terrible person, no wonder his parents shipped him off to god knows where California. Sure they weren't the nicest of people, but what the hell did they do to deserve such a terrible son?
His jaw clenched with anger, he knew how awful he was. At least now his parents could live in peace. River threw the bottle at the yellow goal post nearest to him, shattering upon impact with the steel of the pole.
He smirked to himself briefly, thinking he hadn't lost his aim just yet. At least all those hours of football practice were good for something, throwing shit. He let his body fall back to the imprint he had made in the grass, it was too early to go anywhere, and at least out in this field he wouldn't bother anyone.

beep...beep...beep...beep

She hit her alarm clock that sat next to her bed, and sat up. She rubbed her eyes, and pushed her bangs out of her eyes, and failed as they went back to where they belonged. She pushed her covers off, and rolled out of the crappy bed in her dorm. She was now on the floor, yawning and streching. She pulled the sock on her right foot off, and looked around for the other on.

Delilah wasn't a morning person, but since she wasn't doing gym this year, she decided to run around the track before starting her day. She stood up off the floor and walked into her bathroom. The bathroom in her dorm was small, but she was glad she didn't have to walk down the hall to the floor bathrooms like at her old school. Plus, she didn't have a room mate yet, so no one was taking her hair straightening area. She always did it in one spot, it had the perfect angle with both the outlet, and the mirror. It was a habit.

She threw her one sock into the basket in the corner of the bathroom, and looked at herself in the mirror. "Not bad." She pulled her hair into a messy ponytail, and put a t-shirt over her tanktop, and licked her finger, rubbing it against the smudged make-up. She walked out of the bathroom and grabbed a new pair of socks and put them on. She walked over to the door, and put her tennis shoes on. She ran out the door, it locked automatically behind her, unlike her old school, so she didn't have to worry about it.

She ran to the stadium, the gate was open like always, for kids who would like to run. No one was usually there though, just her. More kids ran at night. Who would wake up early to do something they didn't need to do. She ran down the stairs, and when she hit the pavement, she started at a steady pace. She wasn't payinf attention to anything around her, she also had her iPod in her ears, set as a distraction so she could move her thoughts in a different direction.

Without her music, she wouldn't live. Most of it was rock bands with girl lead singers. Flyleaf, Fireflight. She had no music that she had recorded at the studio. She couldn't listen to herself. No, she was famous, she just paid for a couple hours of recording at the studio, so other people could listen, like her family, though they weren't very supportiver, her friends, she didn't have much here, and people at the studio, who were curious. You never know when someone might like it. It was mostly just piano or guitar with her voice.

She jumped and stopped. There was a loud crashing noise. She turned around, and saw a kid lying in the grass. She locked her iPod, and wrapped the headphones around as she walked over. She was too curious sometimes. It could get her in trouble, and it did. She came up to the guy who she thought had thrown the bottle. He looked drunk. "Are you aware that you aren't allowed to drink acholic beverages on school property." She joked with a smile. She wasn't really one to tell someone that. She sat down on the damp grass next to him, waiting for a response.

River knew what it was like to feel the need to make his hair look perfect, or at least what he considered to be perfect. He used to spend as much time as a girl to get ready, and he didn't even have to fuss with makeup and whatever other extravagant measures women take to look their best. But he was no longer that person. He rolls out of bed, or out of field, and goes straight to his destination. When you shower at night, or hardly at all, you can get away with such an easy 'getting ready' routine.

As River drifted back into a drunken slumber he could hear the faint rhythm of someone running. The sound was soothing and consistent and assisted him into a light sleep. Dreams were never kind to River, always ended up bringing back old memories. But the good thing about dreams is that they are quickly forgotten upon waking up. No matter how hard he tried to remember a forgotten dream from the night before River was never successful. Probably a good thing in his case. But hey, who knows what his drunken little brain could cook up in that skull of his.

River was fully under when the fiery haired young woman approached, so when she spoke he was startled awake. Still confused by what was going on, River squirmed, very ungracefully, up into a sitting position so he could get a good look at who interrupted his alcohol induced slumber.

Squinting through the morning light he was able to see a blurred figure, too small to be a big scary man coming to mug him, and too big to... well, the person was clearly short. Not that that's a bad thing, he tended to feel safer around those smaller than him. He's usually so impaired that even the smallest of creatures could easily take advantage.

"Well clearly this isn't a fantasy. I'm not creative enough to conjure up suck unique hairin my head. And i'd always thought there'd be a little, you know, less clothing." He was a pro, drunk, and yet still able to speak coherently. This was usually a sign to River that he wasn't drunk enough. People usually say somethings unique when they don't want to tell you it's bad. But that wasn't the case with River, he just hadn't been expecting something so unconventional.River block the sun out of his eyes with his hand, getting a better view of who the hell he was talking at. Yep, she was small. Hey, it was impressive that someone of her size would go wandering up to a strange man who was clearly intoxicated. Or just stupid, but River was too drunk to know the difference.

"Not allowed eh? But what if you're already drunk when you get here? I mean, at that point i'm not really 'getting drunk', i'm just prolonging the experience." He shrugged, it sounded pretty darn reasonable to him... a drunk person.

But he could tell by her tone that she wouldn't be running off and ratting him out anytime soon. "Well strange girl, I don't really know where I am at the moment, so if you wouldn't mind enlightening me, that'd be great." River sat slumped over with his legs sprawled out in front of him. He was too lazy to even attempt getting up.

No, Delilah was stupid. No, she was brave. Actually, she was a mix of both. She knew what always happened to her when she had a possibility of being drunk, around a guy who was also drunk. And she was small. Easy to control. Easy to persaude into doing something that a guy would think as fun. But she was so curious, and so outgoing, she couldn't exactly help it.

This was one of the reasons she had come here. So she could stay out of trouble. She had been warned to be careful, or she would go back, she'd be on a plane to Hawaii within thirty minutes. Most kids would want to be there, but she wanted to be as far away from there as possible. Which was Claremont, California. She was think Maine, which would be better for her parents. Less people to get in touble with.

This guy, she thought as she looked at him, seemed like the guys she wsa usually caught with. Good looking, though with problems, drinking, drugs, sometimes anger issues, and sometimes extremely lonely. But she didn't know enough about him to judge him. But now that she thought about it, she didn't know much about any of the guys she slept with.

She looked at him after he said his first comment. He was one of those guys. And it was too early for Delilah to go to bed with someone, or even alone. But he was drunk. She would give him the benefit of the doubt. She pulled her shorts down. She did look like a whore though. She had on shorts that she couldn't really bend down in, and a t-shirt which had the sleeves and the area until two inches above where the shirt ended cut off. She still had her orange tank-top on though. But she hadn't expected herself to run into him.

She laughed as he proved that he wasn't breaking the rules. "You're pretty smart for a drunk guy getting close to the hangover." She said, putting her legs together, and leaning back, placing her hands on the grass to keep her from falling. "Do you think you are going to throw up?" She was almost a pro at getting over the hangover, considering she couldn't let anyone know when she was back home.

She interupted him as he addressed her. "My name is Delilah." She said, then let him continue. She looked around, as if she had forgotten where she was. "Well, I suppose we are sitting..." She looked over at the big number symboling the yard line. "...on the 45 yard line of the football field, on Claremont High School's campus." She said, matter of factly. She never really got to seem like the know it all, so she took her chance when ever she got it.

She followed suit and put her hand up to block the sun. "So, I hope that you go to Claremont. Otherwise, you'll need to get up and run before administration finds you and chases you out." The truth actually was that she had no idea what they would do if a stranger walked onto campus. Probably ask them why they were there, and what they were doing. This was only her first year here, she had no idea what they did.

River always felt untouchable when he was wasted, willing to take on the world or whoever wanted to pick a fight. But as a person he wasn't very combative. The only fights he ever got into were ones that someone else started, and even than they usually finished it. He was too intoxicated to ever win a fight, if you could consider anyone a winner in those types of situations. He didn't give a shit enough to let his ego be bruised over getting the crap beat out of him.

As much as one would guess that River would get into trouble because of his habits they were always partly wrong. He was of the existentialist mind set, which meant he really didn't care enough to go out of his way to cause trouble. No, River was the kind of guy that just did what he had to in order to live...barely. He would eat, sleep, and drink. Nothing else really mattered to him. That's also why he lacked friendships or even acquaintances. He wouldn't go out of his way to meet people or even work on any relationship. Instant gratification is what he was after, and relationships weren't instant.

He was only kidding, River had never been caught with a girl... or guy, to make things perfectly clear here. He had a bunch of girls that were friends in his past, but he would have been too shy to make any sort of 'move' on them. Now though, even though he no longer has shy-syndrome women were either repulsed by his habits or only interested in him because they wanted to turn him around. He always thought it was funny how women were interested in the 'damaged' ones, but as soon as they got fixed the women ditched them for some other lost soul. If he was going to be fixed it would be on his own terms, not some wide-eyed, optimistic girl's. Hell, what was so bad about him anyhow? At least he kept to himself and didn't mess things up for people. Not anymore at least.

"Drunk? Psssshh, what gives you that idea?" He joked in mock denial. The smell in its self was enough to give him away. You could pin him as smashed a mile away. Hm... Clearly she had a bit of experience in the intoxicated department, maybe that was the explanation behind the crazy hair... Either that or she was a rock star....or someone pretending to be a rock star. "Let's just say for a momment that maybe I am drunk. And if I was drunk I would say that I never throw up. I have a stomach made of iron, sister, so don't you worry about me hurling all over your sneakers. I'm good like that." He explained proudly, smirking smugly.

Claremont campus, that rang a bell in his mind. That's right, he was supposed to be going to school wasn't he? He had decided to take a few days to get used to the town before actually going to school. He tended to actually get into more trouble in school that if he didn't go anyway. As she described their surroundings he looked around. "You'd be right about that, strang- er... Lilly?.. No wait, give me a minute.." He paused, trying to recall the name she had just told him momments before. "Sounds like delicious... DELILAH! That's it, your name." He bowed his head to her in greeting. "Well Delilah, I'm River. And I can't guarantee i'll remember this meeting later, but I will try."

If faculty found him drunk on campus he'd most likely end up in the back of a police car, on route to the stations where they would search him and call his parents... He knew the drill all too well. "First of all, there is no way i'd be able to run right now. Second of all i'm pretty sure I could talk my way out of that. Can't you tell i'm a smooth talker?" He asked sarcastically. River didn't find himself to be quite the charmer, and would never be able to talk himself out of trouble. "Wait a minute. Why the hell are you out here anyway? Or are you just out looking for drunkards to harass in the early morning?"

Unlike River, Delilah always felt untouchable, in charge. Which was probably why she was so rebellious. Her hair was done to dissapoint her parents, but she liked it after she washed it and straightened it. She was scared before she did it. Her parents always perferred her to be blonde, like she was for her first thirteen years of like. If she would like to stay here, she would become extremely preppy for the month she went to 'spend time' with her family. Sure. Fun.

No matter what she, or anyone, had done to her before, she never lost her confidence, or strong will. Her parents would always shoot her down. A lot of other people did at her old school too. The popular kids would talk about her and laugh. Make fun of her, about maybe her 'wild' hair, her clothes. Delilah was Delilah though, no one would change her as a person. That's why her parents hated her. Most of her friends found it hard to believe that they hated her. She was an unhateable in their point of view. Though she thought that everyone hated her.

Delilah wasn't a girl who was scared easily, nor was she a girl who was set out to change someone. She knew how she would feel if someone did that to her. She instead, when someone seemed interesting enough, she would force herself upon them, and get to know them. Especially guys. They were probably the most interesting beings in the world, besides hippos or other big fat animals.

"Haha, you're hilarious." She said, letting out a giggle, which was more full of sarcasm than amusement. She was sarcastic most of the time. If you were going to spend time with her, then you would have to get used to that. She looked at him, seeming concerned. "But, if you were drunk, then how can you be for certain that you won't throw up." She said, looking down at her shoes because he had mentioned them.

She listened to him, clicking her tongue as he tried to remember her name. It was unusual. She was also bad with names, she couldn't be hypocritical with a drunk man. River. That was more interesting than her name, and she rarely met someone with an odder name. "River. I like that name." Flirting with anyone was what she did best. "Oh no, you'll remember, like do you have a pen or something, or I will stalk you and remind you when you're sober." She said, nodding her head in approval, he wouldn't be that hard to find.

Drunk people running, well more of attempting to run, was just plain hilarious to watch. They slipped and fell, and ran into things, a lot. "I think you should get up, and try running to, I don't know, 'shake it off.' I'll run with you." She did the air quotes with her fingers as she said 'shake it off'. She was only go to make fun of him in her head, not out old. She couldn't promise not laughing, it was really funny. She smiled at him, and leaned forward, crossing her legs. "Well, River, in the morning, I run on the track that surrounds your bed." She said with a smile.

He knew the whole 'being made fun of because you're different ' thing all too well... But from the opposite end. He'd be the first to admit that in his former life he was a total ass. Well, a different kind of ass than the current one he was. He was involved with a group of kids who made fun of anyone who wasn't just like them. He sees that as wrong now, and maybe deep down he knew it was wrong than too, but he did what he had to in order to fit in back than. His parents made it perfectly clear that popularity was a priority early in life. Popularity. What bullshit. Only the people in your circle like you, everyone else hates you because you made fun of them at some point. What a good piece of irony that was.

Men and fat animals? Well, they were similar enough. Hey, River loved to eat just as much as any big fat hippo. But hippos didn't have crap to worry about. That'd be the life, having nothing to do but swim in natural bodies of water and eating. Maybe he'd go off into the wild and live amongst the hippos, they might not accept him as one of their own though. They could end up eating him! If they're carnivores of course. Why the heck would they want to be vegetarian? Where's the fun in that?

"You're lucky i'm drunk or i'd be offended by that." He teased her about her giggle. She could laugh at him all she wanted, he was only happy to amuse her instead of be a bother to her. He scoffed at her, "Well whatever, if I think i'm going to hurl you'll be the first to know sweetheart. But i'm telling you, I do not throw up." He said with confidence. Men that will live with hippos in the future just don't vomit, and that is a fact.

He nodded, he didn't mind his name. It was as good as any other name. At least with a name like River he wouldn't get confused by a bunch of people having the same name. "Thanks for the compliment. And I think somewhere in there I called you delicious. Which I guess could be a nice... Or really creepy... I will leave that for you to decide." He laughed, he had no intentions of eating her (that's what she said) anytime soon. When he was sober? He had to laugh at that. "Lucky for me that's a very rare occasion so I won't have to have you reminding me." Not that he'd be particularly bothered by a short, red-haired doppleganger.

River shook his head. If he were in her position he'd try to get himself to run too, but that was not going to happen... He probably couldn't run anymore anyway. He used to be quite fit, ran five plus miles a day in fact. Could he really have gone down hill that much? These questions began to circulate through his brain, making him think it wouldn't be such a bad idea to get up and prove he could run. Without another word, he hopped up as gracefully as one can while drunk and his mind was set. "Before I prove my own words of me not being able to run wrong I will say this. You are not normal. Kids should not be getting up this early in the morning to run. Jesus. Sleep in until one in the afternoon. Do drugs. I don't care just stop running in the morning... And finally if I fall at any point do not call for help. there are certain things on my person that do not need to be found by an adult. Okay than, lead the way track star."

Honestly, Delilah didn't ever really care for the people who had made fun of her. Sure, they could have been really nice people, if you were their friends. The nicest thing said to her by one of them was: 'I like your hair, it is so original.' But she quickly added after that: 'Was the person who cut it and colored it blind?' She just smiled, wishing she had a pair of scissors to chop that girls perfect, blonde curly hair off of her head. Delilah didn't usually lose her temper, but what that girl had said made her really mad. Why would you make fun of someone because they didn't want to be like you. She really didn't understand that, mainly because she could never really talk like that about someone behind their back, or to their face. It was just so mean. Even if it was true. She wasn't saying she didn't gossip. Yeah, if some girl got pregnant, she would be spreading it like wild fire. She just wouldn't say anything mean about that girl. No promises of no hurt feelings though.

Delilah liked fat animals. Elephants, hippos, bears, whales. She liked all animals, but fat ones just made her so happy on the inside. Though she was a vegatarian. She didn't really like eating meat. Whenever she went to resteraunts, she would ask for a vegatarian menu. Otherwise it was hard to choose something without meat, and if there was none, to pick off the meat in the meal. She considered the food contaminated after the meat had touched it. She didn't eat fish either. But, she ate biproducts, like milk, cheese, etc. How could she not eat chocolate. How could anyone not eat chocolate, ever.

She smiled at him, laughing for real this time. "That is why I like to hang out with drunk people." As she said that, she nodded her head. Most didn't really take anthing personally. She wrinkled her nose and jokingly scooted away. "Alright, here is the deal. You throw up, I throw up because I don't have an iron stomach. And to warn you, I often throw up on peoples faces." That was not a lie. She remembers so many times when she was lying with her mom when she was younger and then throwing up on her face. It was pretty amusing, she had to admit. Considering how much she did not like her mom, she would do it again. Oh, so many times.

She bit her lip. Delicious was not a adjective she got very often. Mainly, she got weird. "Well, it depends. Are you an old man, because if you were that would be taken as creepy. But if you are around my age, it is very flattering." She said, scooting back closer to him. She understood, it was hard to stay away from drinking, but she really wanted to stay at a school for more than a year or two. Claremont was quiet, but it would do. "But, no, really. You might have a stalker, not a bad one, but one that is completly harmless, and doesn't own or have any possesion of a gun." She said with a smirk.

She was really getting to like this guy. He was smart drunk, smooth. What was he like sober. He was probably great at partying. She smiled. "I'm sorry, but incase you haven't noticed, I'm not a normal person. Like, you should see me when I'm not working out. I stick out. Like a sore thumb." She always wonder why people said that. Why did people say expressions like that ever? She smiled as he stood, then she stood up to, very clumsily. "If you fall, I'll cover your ass, and help you move to a place where you can hide. And, I'm anything but a track star, don't expect much." She really would perfer to run behind him. That would be much more fun.

River had said some terrible things in his past. Things that make him hate himself even more. No matter how low of an opinion someone had of River, the one he had of himself was always worse. He was positive that he had never done anything that made someone's life better, and isn't that what one is supposed to do as part of being human. No, his previous life was dedicated to making people miserable for his and his friends amusement. Nothing he ever put himself through would be punishment for the damage he had already done. At some point in his life he would like to forgive himself and say his wrongs had been rectified, but it was more likely he'd drink himself to death or od on something before that happened.

A girl like Delilah would have been an easy target for the likes of his former group of friends to pick on. However, even though they would tease her the girls would secretly envy her bold style and the guys would find her cute. The sad thing is that they would choose to say bad things about her to make her seem less appealing because everyone would know that she was more appealing than themselves.

River loved food. All foods. Meat, vegetables, dairy, wheats and grains, he'd eat it all. As long is it wasn't anything too strange he'd eat anything out in front of him. Hell, and if it was something free he'd reconsider what was too strange. He would admit that he often enjoyed vegetarian or vegan foods, but once again he was basically a trash compactor, willing to eat anything. Chocolate, that has its own food group. Any item in the chocolate group is instantly delicious. Most would argue that milk chocolate is the superior chocolate, but River would argue that dark chocolate is what chocolate is supposed to taste like. Chocolate in all its forms are acceptable to eat.

Ah, he reaction vomit. Vomiting cause by someone seeing someone else vomit. Always a classic comedic scene in modern cinema. River found it very strange that he was having this whole hurling discussion with such a small petite girl... or even a girl at all. He never really hung out with any girls that weren't blonde, blue-eyed, and tan. Delilah was a refreshing take on the whole female gender. But it has been already established that she is a little weird.

"Ah, it must be creepy than because i'm going to be 67 in july." He said it in all seriousness, but she seemed bright enough to pick up on the fact that he most certainly was not 67 years old. Really, she'd have to be blind to not get that one. River fully embraced drinking as a means to abandon his feeling and inhibitions. He didn't like who he was, and drinking changed him into someone more tolerable and livable. Sometimes when sober he didn't feel like living. At least while drunk he could get by. "Well that's good to know. But I could see you doing worse things than shooting me. I can tell there's something evil behind those eyes of yours." He teased, thinking she really wouldn't be capable of much evil at all.

With that wild red hair he didn't doubt she stuck out at any occasion. She was just the sort that his mother would tell him to avoid. But he hadn't listened to a god damn thing his mother said for years and he wasn't about to start now. "Fine. But i'll have you know I used to be quite the athlete myself. I mean, don't be expecting anything spectacular here, but try to keep up Delicious Delilah." He said vainly, his drunken logic had convinced himself that he retained all his former athletic ability and would be able to run forever now.

As soon as he started to jog toward the edge of the field to start around the track he knew that he had been sorely mistaken about still being able to run. Obviously the drinking had taken its tole, he was finding it extremely hard to catch his breath and his heart was already pounding in his chest. But he wasn't about to let Delilah know that. Trying to mask a face of pain River attempted to smile. "Wow.... this....is.... great..... it's like..... I never..... stopped.... running....." He gasped, trying to focus on his running.

Delilah didn't live a life of regrets. Yeah, she had done things she wished she hadn't done, but she had forgiven herself. That was just her, though, different. But she knew, the girls that made fun, really wish they could be her, it was just obvious, and the jocks usually like the weird girls, but in order to stay popular, they couldn't admit it, causing them to make fun of that girl to hide that fact that they liked her. Delilah always just wanted to grab a random guy and make out with him infront of those guys to prove it. Plus, she would have fun just makeing out with a random guy in the school hallways, but she never really got around to it.

She never would have said yes to any of those guys. She would deffinately perfer a guy with dark emo hair, who was capable of pulling off wearing girl jeans on a regular basis. Those guys really couldn't make fun of her for her hair or clothes, maybe her personality, but she was ok with that. But she wasn't one of those other emo kids. She didn't hate other groups of people, like preps. If they were nice to her, she would consider them friends. And, she didn't consider herself emo mainly because she loved her life, and cutting herself would make her throw up. She just likes to wear emo clothing and to have the rarely in control razor cut on her head.

Being a vegetarian was also frowned upon by her parents. For one, they had to by her pills, and they were concerned she wouuld overdose, but they might be happy after that, nore more Delilah. And second, whenever they went to dinner at friends house, Delilah was an extremly picky eater. She didn't like a lot of food that wasn't meat, and she couldn't eat meat. She had actually tried meat once, it was good, but she felt bad for eating an innocent animal. She was all about animal rights, but she refused to join Peta, they were against Pit Bulls.

She smiled at his remark. "67? Gross." She wrinkled her nose again. Old people scared Delilah sometimes. Like the ones that weren't married, they were grabbing younger girls butts, and hitting on them. It was nice sometimes, to know someone thought you were hot, but it was more discusting. She narrowed her eyes at him. "Like, what. I'm not strong enough to, like, rape anyone. And torturing people goes against what I believe in." Well, that was really a lie. Torturing teachers was actually something she loved doing. Like chewing gum in the library, loudly, or texting with your ringer on high. She and her old friends did it all the time. They usually gave her the ideas, and she did it, while they were shopping online, or something of the sorts.

Yes, Delilah was the type of girl her mother would tell her not to make friends with, and when she became that girl, she was immediately hated. Her older sister, Destiny, supported her at first, but her mother and father had probably convinced her otherwise. Delilah wasn't supposed to spend time with her younger siblings, because they weren't supposed to be "influenced" by her rebellious ways. So Delilah tried to spend as much time with them as possible. She might as well bring them down with her. And it would be more fun with they were like her. "What did you play? Football?" She asked, jogging only a step behind him. He seemed like a football player, or baseball. More likely football, she was almost certain. She also liked her new name. Delicious Delilah.

She smirked when he started running. He was obviously thinking that he was still perfectly capable of running. She was next to him quickly, with no struggle. "Either, you are really drunk, or my running in the morning has made me capable of sprinting a marathon." It was obvious he was already out of breath. And she knew it a little, he would probably be tripping all over the place.

River head never dated girls like Delilah... but he hadn't dated very many girls in his time either. He used to be very shy and timid around girls, the ones in his social circle had been very abrasive and rude, something that didn't even appeal to him even during the time he hung out with those people. Delilah was a little on the abrasive side, his was true, but she wasn't rude. Or maybe she was and he just couldn't tell because he was drunk. Whatever, he didn't plan on asking out any girl currently. He had problems dealing with himself, how would he deal with having a girlfriend?

Ah, emo kids. River had a couple of experiences with emos that mad him tend to dislike them. He went to a concert and all the emos had no consideration for their fellow concert-goers. Flailing their arms around and smacking people, it was just plain rude. Yeah it was at a concert, but that's no excuse to go around physically attacking people. River didn't understand it. Was he just supposed to accept getting hit by them and not retaliate? If someone did that to him on the street he would hit back. Whatever, it just didn't make sense. Plus, how the hell did those guys where those tight pants?! That shit would hurt!

The way she wrinkled her nose made him all warm inside. Not in like a creepy way, it was just so adorable. It was like a puppy yawning, no one could say that it wasn't cute. No one could say that Delilah wrinkling her nose wasn't cute.

River would have to agree that old people weren't on the top of his favorite type of people list. They freaked him out, he never wanted to look like an old person with all the wrinkles and random brown spots on his skin. Egh. Maybe he'd be lucky to die young so he didn't have to see the day that he'd look like that. Plus, could you imagine how horrible his tattoo would look if he had old-man skin? "Who knows. Maybe you have raped people and they are too ashamed to admit that someone so small took advantage of them. I bet you're disappointed right now that i'm not wasted enough for you to take advantage of me. I'm lucky I can handle my liquor well." He said matter of factly, though he was being the opposite of serious. Pfft, she was too small to ever over power him.

What sport hadn't River played before? IT was a shorter list than what he had played before. But he didn't want to overwhelm her, she seemed like the type of girl who wouldn't be impressed by being involved in a shit load of sports. "Sure, I played football." He wasn't about to go listing off a bunch of sports he played in his past anyway. No longer was he a part of any of them. "You don't have to be too worried about me kicking your ass though, I haven't played sports for over a year." As if she couldn't tell by his horrible running.

River looked at his running partner, she looked fine while he was breathing heavily and already working up a sweat. He didn't really look out of shape. River still retained some of the muscle mass he built up from sports, but his lungs were shot to hell from smoking. He had never had to work this hard to breath. "I don't know what to tell you Double D, I'm not the athlete I used to be. Sorry to say that i'm not so sure about you running a marathon." He laughed, which was also difficult. His pace was sluggish, but he wasn't about to stop after only a few minutes.

While running, River slid a hand into his jacket and pulled out a lighter and a pack of cigarettes. With a flick of his lighter he had a cigarette lit and in his mouth, all the while he continued to run. "Good thing I can still multitask."

Delilah didn't really date guys. It always went two ways. She met them, became really good friends with them but never got serious, but she would flirt with them like crazy. Or, she would meet them, have sex, then never see them again because she didn't want to. Her friends matter too. She didn't want a relationship with a guy that was her friend because she didn't want to ruin it. And, the one night stands, it would just be to awkward to hang out with them after that. Plus, getting serious scared her.

Concerts were fun for Delilah, hanging onto the railing, telling them not to lift her, but she really would want to go up there. Sure you were abused, and sexually harassed, but it was a whole lot of fun. She also knew the more you resisted to participate, it just made them want you up there more. She knew the trick for leaving without bruises, or black eyes, or bloody heads. You jsut stay away from the center of the pit. Stay close, but not to close to the crazy people. And when people were drinking, stay away from them, because they were most likely to punch someone. Unlike River, Delilah thought girl pants on guys were hot, they were some pretty brave guys. Plus, she wore those same pants, just in many different colors: black, red, yellow, purple, pink. She had one pair in almost every color.

Delilah usually thought about things before doing them. That is why she never got any tattoos. She didn't want to get some ugly thing anywhere on her body that she would be embarrassed of in a couple of years. As long as she could get rid of it without paying thousands of dollars, she could make mistakes. If she got pregnant, she could easily find a person to pay for her medical pills, and then once the baby is out, Delilah would never see it again. See, no problem. She could go be a whore whenever she wanted to be one. "So you have figured out my secret." She made her eyes big and shook her head to reply to something else he had said. "I'm not dissapointed. I doubt your any good." She said smiling.

Delilah wasn't really into sports. She wasn't bad, music was just ranked higher. It was more important to her, besides, she considered jocks stupid and mean. Why would she want to be like that. "Well, that's cool." She wasn't really telling the truth, but she wasn't about to tell him that she didn't particually like jocks. She smiled at him. "I don't ever think I'll have to worry about you ever kicking my ass. You should be worried about me kicking yours."

He was right, he looked like a normal, in shape person, but you couldn't really tell by watching him run. Delilah was ahead of him, she put her hand behind her back and flicked him off at the marathon remark. "I'm guessing at this pace you could run a mile in maybe twenty minutes." She laughed. She was slow too, her fastest mile was about eight minutes. She slowed down, so he could catch up to her.

As he lit the cigarette, she looked at him. This was probably another reason why he was having problems. She smiled. "I thought it was hard for men to multitask." Or so she had been told. She slowed down to a walking pace, and held out her hand. "Can I?" She asked, waiting for the cigarette. She hadn't had a smoke in awhile, and she was due for one.
